(AKA: another reason for Gracie to gush about her favorite movie!)

So lets end this week on a great note. Halloween is done, so is Day of the Dead, and no one really cares about Thanksgiving (admit it you only care about the food). You could call Christmas the next good holiday that comes around. Which is why we’re gonna end this with the best of both worlds, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

It also gives me another reason to show off my artwork! YAY!

You all already know I love this movie, it’s my blood, my soul, my inspiration, my muse! This movie is the pedestal I compare everything to. This film was my film school 101 for I would study the credits and the special features of the DVD and learn as much as I could about this film.

For Christ’s sake it’s on my wall!

So let me share a story with you, I shop at hot topic and for awhile they had great merchandise. That was until 2008-09ish, when the novelty wore off and they were selling out. Now a couple of years ago, in early October, I had asked them, “Hey, where’s your Nightmare Before Christmas stuff?”

“Oh we’re not getting that until after Halloween.”

“Really? That’s odd.”

“I don’t think so, I see that movie as more of a Christmas film anyway.”

Ass

Anyway, this film has an even split of both holidays, sure the monsters are creating Christmas, but they’re monsters. A good 80% is set in Halloween town, 15% in Christmas town and 5% in human world. (And thats all I know math wise) The biggest music number everyone remembers is “This is Halloween” which nicely uses repetition to get stuck in your head.

Anyway, this one on my list is probably the most well known, so what else can I say other than my own personal experiences and more of my collection?

I can’t afford for another film to be my favorite! And this is only a chunk of it, I have more stuff in boxes in my closet! Hell I have Sally’s Deadly Nightshade Jar for my tea in the kitchen! This isn’t just a movie…it’s a lifestyle!

I want to bet you’ve already seen this film at least once this season already. So take the time to watch it again, maybe with commentary, maybe buy the soundtrack, or just watch it again…but drunk {to keep it interesting}. There is something special about this film, something that speaks to the fact that even though these are scary monsters, they want to give and be generous.

And inspire future crafts! I WILL CREATE THIS WREATH SOME DAY…AND IT’LL BE AWESOME!

And isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
