Well, here’s a first! A proper text article by one Gomer, the Ranting Thespian!
From an iPad!
Those who listen to Thespian Talk know that my “day job” is truck driving. It nets a decent amount per week, allows me to see different parts of the country, and it’s how I managed to meet up with The Cat to film our crossover.
It’s also how I got to see my wonderful girlfriend before she moved in.
The truck itself is white, even though the company for whom I drive is known for orange trucks, and damn can it feel cramped! But it has a nifty heater in the bunk, so I won’t freeze off random body parts during the winter. And it has an equally nifty AC/DC adaptor, so I can charge my portable games on the go without putting out money for a separate adaptor!
On the open highway, the driving is generally pretty nice. Plenty of time to think about video and show ideas. Hell, I often come up with Focus Point ideas while driving. I’ll even figure out how I want to introduce my co-host of the week.
I’ve also developed a knee-jerk reaction to pro-life billboards. I don’t think I’ve ranted more than when I drove through the Twin Cities. Or down I-65, between Chicago and Indianapolis.
I also have a fondness for particular truck stop chains, namely Pilot and Flying J. Not only does my company get their fuel at these places, but they’re filled with friendly staff, clean showers, and some decent parking, though that’s more the Flying Js than Pilot. I also have a rewards card that I can use for free stuff. Basically, the more I use it to get fuel, the more points I earn.
Also, Denny’s has been taking over the Flying J chain.
That’s enough for now. If you like it, leave me a comment below or e-mail me at rtgomerprod@gmail.com and let me know!
Next time, I’ll go into a few things about trucking that you may not already know!

Orange trucks…on no…please tell me you’re not a Schneider trucker…
