Welcome everyone to the new year! We survived the mayan thingy!

Well not wonder we got the calendar wrong someone got the munchies!
So anyway let’s kick off the new year with a Not So Daily-Daily List. This week’s topic is….
My Hopes for the New Sailor Moon Season!
For those out of the loop back in June Kodansha had a Sailor Moon 20th anniversary panel and announced a new anime in the works. We believe that Kotono Mitsuishi will be returning as Sailor Moon, there will be an international broadcast and Momoiro Clover Z will be doing the theme song.
And for those of you who don’t know what Sailor Moon is…

Get out and educate yourself!
So since there’s no other news about this, I guess I can safely make this list of hopes for what’s to come.
I’ve been a fan of Sailor Moon since I was at the end of Elementary and beginning of Middle school. The fact that it’s 20 years old makes me feel old too.
So here’s my list.
The cats as humans

Now, we did see Luna as her human version in the Sailor Moon S movie (or Hearts in Ice as we called it in America) and in the live action show. But we didn’t get to see Artemis and Diana’s human versions outside of the Manga. So, yea…I wanna see that.
Neo Crystal Tokyo and Moon Kingdom

In general more world building would be nice for Sailor Moon. But I want to see how magnificent the old moon kingdom was under Queen Serenity’s rule and the adventures of Princess Serenity. And I want to see how Serenity is as Neo Queen or as Chibiusa’s mother.
Older Chibiusa/Rini and the Sailor Amazons

In the manga the Amazon Quartet serve as Chibiusa’s team for when she’s a sailor scout in the future. Not much is seen of this except for a couple chapters and none of this for the anime where they were only villains. Since Chibiusa was rather annoying in the show I want to see how she is as a leader and if she’s a better leader than her mother.
The Shitennou

AKA these guys
I really wished that the anime kept the fact that these guys were actually Tuxedo Masks’ friends/army like how the senshi are to Sailor Moon. In fact, these guys actually dated members of the senshi according to this artbook sketch.

Sailor V

Before the Sailor Moon manga hit, there was Sailor V. While a lot of her story is almost the same as Sailor Moon, there are some interesting things in V that actually help explain parts of Sailor Moon. Also, to actually see V in action and gain her popularity would be amazing.
The Musicals
Yes that’s right, there are musicals of Sailor Moon in Japan. And not just one, but 10. So if the writers are in a pickle how about they actually use plots from the musicals in the show? You don’t need to have the singing though…that’s okay not to have the singing.
NO RE-HASH!

NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO! NO……….no!
Ok everything else on this list I could take or leave, seriously I could. But if the new show is just the first season but modernized for today’s audiences…I think I’ll fly to Japan and go all Godzilla on Toei.
Oh God if this is like Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, where it’s the same damn show but “more faithful to the manga” I seriously will not watch. I know Sailor Moon’s fucking origin, I read it in the manga and saw it on the anime/live action show/musicals. There isn’t more to say on the origin side of Sailor Moon outside of Moon Kingdom and Sailor V!
All the other stuff I mentioned is essentially world building to expand the Sailor Moon universe, which is as big as an actual fucking universe.

Look at all of this! Look at all of the potential! So many characters, so many possibilites!
So anyway, I hope everyone’s 2013 gets to a great start!

And let’s hope that this is the year the ToonMaker Sailor Moon pilot finally gets dragged out of the bowels of the internet.
