So recently I decided to rent the DVD of Company. For those out of the loop; Company is a Stephen Sondheim musical, just recently a production of the musical too place in 2011 featuring the Film Harmonic Orchestra and starring…

I think I just came….I__I
Now this was a rather unique production. It didn’t run for weeks on weeks, but only for a couple of nights. They taped one of the shows and distributed it to theaters and now on DVD.

Now this got me thinking about broadway musicals and how I can never see them often because I don’t have money and I don’t live near New York.
you can’t tell but yea…this building is a piece of shit.
So why isn’t this Company production the norm? Why can’t all musicals, or at least big name/high profile ones have movie theater/DVD releases for the people who can’t go?
I’m serious, we can make this work for both broadway and the fans that can’t see it. For the high profile/big name ones, tape one of the tour performances and release it on DVD. Yes, productions already do that, but it’s mostly for PBS or years after it premiered. I’m saying to do it sooner, like within the first tour year, when the Tony wins are still in everyones minds.

HINT…….(come to my town)
And the productions can also have theatrical or TV showings. I can easily see Comedy Central airing Book of Mormon on their station.

AND MAKING MILLIONS! $$$$$$$$$$
If people are concerned with attendance, don’t be. Broadway fans will always want to see their favorite shows in person. But this would be a great supplement for the fans that can’t afford to see the shows and don’t want to wait 10 years for a show to come their small town.

HINT HINT WICKED!
