Okay, my second article for RT Gomer. This time it’s my thoughts for Bones Season 2. I started to tweet about it using the hashtag, #BonesSeason2.
Okay, I already talked about the cast in Season 1, but there were some changes for Season 2. The cast remained mostly the same except that Dr. Goodman left for sabbatical and was replaced by Dr. Camille Saroyan. They also introduced more guest stars for the season, bringing back Russ Brennan, Temperance’s brother, Howard Epps, a serial killer from Season 1 and Caroline Julian, the federal prosecutor. Also they introduced Max Keenan, “Tempy’s” and Russ’ father.
So, now onto the episodes. The season opened with The Titan on the Tracks. It introduced Camille and I admit that I didn’t like her in that episode. In fact, I didn’t like her for a few episodes. Probably because she wasn’t as cool with the unique experiments that The Squints performed as Goodman was. They found the killer and it was a great season opener.
The next few episodes were development stuff and showed more of Booth’s son and ex-girlfriend. Then we get to the episode, “The Blonde in the Game” where we re-visit Howard Epps. He has a wife. But that doesn’t last long after the episode ends. There is more development with Hodgins finally dating Angela and Brennan and Hodgins getting buried alive with Brennan finally finding out that Hodgins is rich.
Then in Judas on a Pole, Max Keenan resurfaces to send a message to the Deputy Director of the FBI who is hunting him, and would hurt Russ and Brennan. The episode ends with him leaving with Russ back into hiding. He would resurface a few times over the course of the season. Also, Zack cuts his hair and gets his doctorate! Good for him! But I miss the long hair, probably because of my long hair and it shows that long hair is not eternal.
Then we finally get to the re-return of Howard Epps, in which he stalks the Squints and tries to kill Brennan. He even goes after Booth’s son, which makes Booth freak out on Parker. He also poisons Camille, which is when I started to like her, because I did feel sympathy for her. The episode ends with Howard Epps committing suicide, which has a huge impact on Booth, and causes him to shoot at the clown shaped speaker on an ice cream truck. That causes the next few episodes to introduce a new FBI agent, Tim “Sully” Sullivan and a psychiatrist named Gordon Gordon Wyatt played by the hilarious as always; Stephen Fry. Sully and Brennan get into a relationship and he offers to sail around the world with Brennan, but she declines because she wants to stay with Booth. Gordon takes his leave after he diagnoses all the problems that are wrong with the relationships of Brennan/Booth and Angela/Hodgins.
Then Max returns again. He helps save Booth’s life in The Killer in the Concrete. However, every time he shows up, he has to leave to avoid arrest. During “The Stargazer in a Puddle”, he finally accepts the arrest after he allows Booth to beat him up because he doesn’t want to abandon Brennan again. Angela and Hodgins were planning to get married, but it turns out that Angela is already married, so the episode ends with Angela and Hodgins running off.
That was Bones Season 2, was it good? Hell yes! It was better than Season 1 because it had a really good overarching plot, with Max Keenan’s arc. My favorite regulars remain to be Zack Addy and Temperance Brennan. As for guest stars, I like Caroline Julian, because she said what everyone was thinking in, “The Man in the Mansion”. I also really liked Gordon Gordon Wyatt, because he was Stephen Fry! Why wouldn’t I like him? But Sully was funny as well, but I still prefer Booth as the FBI agent for the team. Next week, think I’ll write about something related to Pokemon so stay tuned!
