Spreading the word of a real threat

I usually don’t do this kind of thing with my writing. My personal feelings on certain things usually don’t bleed over into my work or this column (maybe that’s to my own detrimine), but I thought I would use this space to bring up an issue that has, within the last few weeks, come to my attention and affected people I know and admire.

Recently a person, going by names such as Danny, DannyWiiU and other such names has seemingly made it his lot in life to using her perversions to harass not only several female producers from Channel Awesome, several animated voice actresses, underage children, and even RTGomer’s personalities. He will harass them online for videos of them burping. Seriously. If they do not provide him with want her wants he has threatened to rape and murder them, those close to them, and even their pets as well. Several of the people he has harassed have seen fit to ban him on places like Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr, only for him to harass them even more using alternate accounts, specially to unblock them so he can go back to threatening them with the end goal of getting some video to get his jollies off on.

Folks, this is no joke. Although it appears he is serious with his requests and not some trolls playing an elaborate prank. What he is doing is stalking, harassment, threatening not just on a local level, but is breaking several FEDERAL internet stalking and harassment laws. DO NOT ENGAGE THIS PERSON.  Do not give him what he wants, do not respond to him. If he threatens you, block him and have him reported.

Unfortunately in the case of Twitter evidently they do not take the threats of rape and murder seriously enough to do anything about him, so it seems actually easier to report him as a spam account. If enough claims and complaints are filed against him, hopefully someday, somehow Twitter will get it through their heads that this guy is a serious problem.

This isn’t a case of “just give him what he wants. What harm is in it?” This man is a dangerous threat to the well being of several people. Yes, there IS something mentally wrong with him, obviously. But you know what? That’s no excuse. Certainly not one that should stand up in court.

If you are a victim of this joker, or even witness it happening to a friend or college of yours, report it to the Federal Internet Crime Complaint Center: http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx  and hopefully this will put a stop to him and others like him.
