Odds and Ends and Stuff.
Hi Gang! Gotta admit it has been a rough week for me. Losing a friend like that is not a fun experience and honestly, I don’t have a big topic taking up my thoughts this week like I usually do, just a lot of smaller things, so might as well cobble them all together and put something down in words. Might make me feel better.
So, The Superbowl Huh? I may not even give a damn about football until at least the playoffs since I’m not a football fan and just a tournament mark. I’m in the middle of Maine so yeah, I’m a Pats fan, and gotta say it was more than just hoping they would win, it was EXPECTED. Think the 1980 Hockey game with the Russians and the United States level there. It was a good game. So, I actually find it cool that the Eagles won. “My Team” lost and I am perfectly fine with that. I’m old enough to remember when the Pats sucked hardcore. So losing this one isn’t that big of a deal to me.
The Superbowl commercials were also fun this year. Rapping Peter Dinklage and the Dirty Dancing homage were my top favorites of the night. Can’t say much about the halftime show, since not only do I not like Justin Timberlake very much, but I nodded off during that whole thing anyway.
Also working on my next book in my kRaven short book series. Do not even have a title yet and things are a bit in parts that need to be put together. Honestly, these books aren’t attracting too many book dealers at the moment, but that’s okay. The kRaven stuff is a little more about me than trying to please a retailer. I’ll be sure to post when this current one is done and finished. If anything that is helping during this rough spot for me, this is it. You can find all my creative work on my website here.
And of course, since I never really followed up on this, but the Royal Rumble event was actually really good. It seems like it is the first time in years this event was actually fun and entertaining instead of a chore and WWE’s attempt to insult and trolls its own fanbase. The order of the matches was really odd, but the two Rumble matches were both decent and well put together. Sure, it’s not going to be the card of the year, but it was a good one. Hopefully, someone in the company figured out that if you treat the fans like “stupid marks” and just do things to make yourself better than them, those fans aren’t going to be there anymore. And despite that the WWE doesn’t think there is competition for them anymore, there are plenty of alternatives out there for wrestling fans, so maybe someone in that tower figured it out.
And I mentioned this before a few weeks ago, but the Winter Olympics start on Friday. Always a fun time for the Opening to the Closing Ceremony, so I look forward to it.
Not really a big article for you folks this week. Like I said there are just some things swirling in my head right now to put together something super massive this week. But hopefully next time I’ll have something much better for any of you who follow this.
Before I go. I wanted to link to the online remembrance of my friend Kat. She will be missed by all of us here in the AniMaine community.
