The seeds are being planted.

So now that the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber shows are done, the early formation of this year’s Wrestlemania card has already started. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns has been officially announced and the hype has already started in the match that a billion wrestling fans saw coming but not exactly clamored for.

But in Monday’s show, the seeds were plated for a LOT of other matches, and that is only from one side of the coin. As I am writing this, Smackdown hasn’t taken place yet and with their PPV show, Fastlane, coming up in two weeks, we aren’t going to get much about Wrestlemania. It seems a surprise to no one that once again, RAW is getting the leg up on the biggest card of the year.

So looking things over we already have Roman Reigns beating..err…facing Brock Lesnar. That has been announced with the graphics and everything. Elsewhere we have just rumors. The WWE Title match looks to be A.J. Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura which I hoped and expect to be AMAZING. But with Styles defending the title in 2 weeks against four other people, there is a possibility the WWE could screw everything up. Hell, they could put the belt on Baron Corbin or Dolph Ziggler just to fuck everything up.

But back to the RAW side of things. We have stuff with The Miz and the Intercontinental title involving both Seth Rollins and Finn Balor (possible 3 way at Mania?), Asuka and Alexia Bliss, Bayley and Sasha Banks, Braun Strowman and Elias (why?), and whatever John Cena is doing whether it’s the rumored match with the Undertaker or not. And let’s not forget the big tag match they laid the seeds for with Triple H and Steph taking on Rhonda Rousey and Kurt Angle. Not to mention the already advertised finals of the Cruiserweight title for the 205 live show and for better or worse the Andre The Giant Battle Royal for everyone the writers didn’t give something too for the big card. There also may be something with the RAW tag champions The Bar too, but really they are just as apt to be in the Battle royal than anything meaningful.

So that is about 8 matches that are rumored and we still have more than a month and another PPV show to go before we get there. Either the WWE is going to stack another overly long Mania show to the point where some matches are going to be only a few minutes long or cut entirely, or a lot of these seeds may just not germinate.

Now the WWE likes this. They love to throw a ton of ideas out there and “keep fans guessing” but in reality, most of this stuff will just be fluff that fans could not care less about. I’m sure there are more fans wanted to know what the Undertaker will do than care about a match with Braun Stroman and Elias. And I just don’t see fans plunking down the kind of prices the WWE charges for this because they are excited about the Battle Royal of leftovers. The fans don’t want things to be too predictable, but at the same time don’t want things to get too crazy. Don’t start things like this on screen if you don’t have a good follow through on it.

Luckily there is still plenty of time to go. We shall see what happens in the oncoming weeks.

Now, before I go I want to point anyone reading this towards a special little pup who is part of the family of a friend of mine. I have not had the chance to meet her personally, but Bailey isn’t feeling too good and she needs some help. Poor Bailey could use the kindness of strangers so if you are reading this, I ask you to give her a little love and help her and Jen out. She has had a rough one so far so she could use the help. You can donate to her and her human Jen HERE.
