That time of year again!
It’s always a big event for me and has been for a long time. Since we are less than a week away from the big event, here are my predictions as to what will happen!
WWF Title: AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura: I would hope this is given a good amount of time for the work rate fans. These guys have a good history, but only as much as the WWE brass want to give them. I’m going out on a limb and saying Shinsuke wins the belt but it will be a back and forth one and I hope it’s as good as a lot of people want it to be. Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
Universal Title: Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns: The match that the fans don’t care about! Talk about a complete opposite. This will probably be the closer and be a typical match between the two, for better or worse. Roman wins but gets booed out of the building again. Winner: Roman Reigns *sigh*
US Title: Randy Orton vs Bobby Roode vs Jinder Mahal vs Rusev: Adding Rusev did add more to this match and differentiated between this and the IC Title match, even if it doesn’t completely make any sense. I don’t think Rusev is winning, putting the belt on Mahal would be a nightmare, so I’m picking Roode just to have the title change Winner: Bobby Roode
Intercontinental title: Miz vs Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins: At least this one kind of makes sense. It should be good as far as WWE 3 way matches go, but supposedly Miz is wanting some time off now that his daughter has been born and supposedly another movie role. Both the opponents would make suitable champions, but I’m going with Balor since eh, why not? Winner: Finn Balor
RAW Tag titles: The Bar vs Braun Strowman/Mystery Partner: There have been a million different ideas about who the mystery partner will be, but I don’t think it will affect the match and big Braun is going to win the titles. Winner: Braun Strowman/Mystery Partner (Big Show)
Smackdown Tag title: Usos v/s Bludgeon Brothers v/s New Day: I don’t expect this to be in a good place on the card. Either the pre-show or the Death Spot between the Main event matches. Don’t expect it to go long either. I expect some good flying from most of those involved but it will be a power move on Big E by the Bludgeon Brothers to win. Winners: Bludgeon Brothers
RAW Woman’s Title: Alexa Bliss vs Nia Jax: This will feature a lot of running by Bliss and Nia running after her, probably the best story you can tell in a match like this. The way things have been going with Nia playing the victim would make you think that Jax wins in a feel-good moment. I agree. Winner: Nia Jax
Smackdown Women’s Title: Charlotte vs Asuka: This will get a feature spot on the show. I have big hopes for this match as well as both can do amazing things given the time to do it. As amazing as Charlotte is, I don’t see her ending the streak. Winner: Asuka
Cruiserweight Title: Cedric Alexander vs Mustafa Ali: This will get a pre-show spot, unfortunately. But will be a good if kinda shot match. I am more sold on Alexander than I am Ali It won’t be given a lot of time but for what it does will be good. Winner: Cedric Alexander
Women’s Battle Royal: The former Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal will be there with not a lot of interest, but it will be there. It has already been announced a number of the NXT women will take part and that seems like a safe bet. My guess is Shayna Baszler debuting and winning the whole thing. Winner: Rhonda’s Buddy, Shayna Baszler
Andre the Giant Battle Royal: It will be there but again, the idea this “makes careers” has been dead for a while so the winner doesn’t really matter at all. I think it will be another surprise and whomever that is wins the whole thing Winner: Drew McIntyre
Shane McMahon/Daniel Bryan vs Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn: Talk about using a lot of smoke and mirrors! With Bryan being “medically cleared” after 3 years from concussions and Shane having a bout of Diverticulitis and a hernia, neither guy should be doing much of anything. Will probably be the “wild brawl” match of the night with a bunch of toys and trinkets involved. Shane and the Goat win in a meh brawl more than anything. Winner: Shane and Daniel Bryan
John Cena vs Undertaker: Man the hype for this has been awful. Whining Cena isn’t doing much and having the Taker not show up at all hasn’t helped. No matter what he looks like the Taker will put on a spirited show if showing his age again. Having Cena win after all this makes no sense to me so Taker wins it be fans will be disappointed in the performance if just surprised by a new look. Winner: Undertaker
Kurt Angle/Rhonda Rousey vs HHH/Stephanie: This will get a prime spot on the card but it won’t impress anyone. Trips and Angle will probably go for 15 minutes or so before Rousey and Steph even get in the ring. Rhonda will person some “ooh and Ahh” type moves to get pictures of Steph in the media but she will probably be so safe and tame in the match that it won’t impress anyone either. Winners: Kurt Angle/Rhonda Rousey
Overall: It won’t be the greatest show of all time. A lot of matches aren’t going to be given good time to do anything and the show will start to drag on at times. It won’t be a huge disaster but it’s not going down in history either. Mediocre but pointing upwards prediction from me.
