Starbolts #521: Rudo Awakening

Hail!

It’s been almost eight years since Starbolts #200 and finally we’ve learned what happened after the door closed between Demonsk and the Starbolts’ home reality. A “son” named Rudo was born and he definitely lives up to the name if is attitude is any indication. Someone needs to teach that boy some manners. And that someone should be Tanis. Don’t let Rudo’s attitude distract you from the main goal of this story and that should be finding out what Demonstorm did to Angela way back when the comic was starting! We’re close to finding out the answers to all of her questions!

Still, I can’t help but wonder what brought Tanis back in Starbolts #215. I guess that really is a mystery for another time. Kidding. I actually DO know what brought him back and Tanis knows too. He just isn’t sharing right now.

Anyway, tune in next week as Angela finally finds out what the deceased lord of Demonsk did to her.

See ya next time!

The ORIGINAL Ninth Doctor? (Scream of the Shalka Novelization Review) – The Literary Lair

In our 9th anniversary episode, we take a look back at the novelization of a webcast that might have saved Doctor Who from the Wilderness Years before Russell T. Davies brought the show back in ’05.

Damn Write: A bag of Hershey Miniatures

So I was sitting around this morning and with little else to chose from I grabbed a handful of chocolate from a bag of Hershey Miniatures. That little bag of small little chocolate bars. I needed something in my system so those worked, It has those little Hershey chocolate bars, those dark chocolate bars, those Mr. Goodbar ones with the peanuts in them, and those Krakle bars with crisped rice in them (those are my favorite). I got to thinking. Those have been the same four kinds of bars in a bag of these since I was a kid! They’ve changed the wrappers and all but those 4 have been the same flavors since the ’80s! What kind of different flavors could Hershy’s have used? One idea is to put some candies in a bag that change away from dark chocolate. Something like white chocolate or something like Peanut butter or something. One assortment they used to have was the Nut Lovers pack with nuts in all the bars in a bag or the La Dulceria Thalia bag that had cookies and candy is the assortment. Those are some good ideas. Mix some chocolate in with M&Ms or have a different kind of bar like a SKOR bar or a Milk Dud bar or a Kit Kat bar that would change things up. Those sound mighty tasty and Kit Kats are already done in mini’s so putting them in a miniatures bag wouldn’t be that hard to accomplish. Yummy munchies!

I am letting my stomach come up with these ideas so I’d better stop now.

Starbolts #520: Visiting Scenic Demonsk

Hail!

Welcome back to scenic Demonsk where the hellish landscape has been replaced by lush forests and the people have been forced to be happy as if their lives depend on it. Because it totally does. Well, it looks like a lot has changed in Demonsk since we last saw it in Starbolts #200. Demonstorm himself appears to be gone and someone who claims to be his son is now in charge. Who is he? We’ll find out more about him and what he did to his people next time.

The mood of the people drew inspiration from the ’90s film “Demolition Man” where Sylvester Stallone’s character wakes up in a seemingly utopian future where people are far too chipper for their own good. It’s a decent action movie and it’s got a nice moral to it. Check it out wherever movies are available. Or look it up on YouTube.

Back to the comic. It looks like all may be lost for Angela. I hope whoever this guy is can help. Is he friend or foe? Tune in next week and find out!

    See ya next time!

Thespian Talk #246 (Micro-Asshole Filtering)

This week is light on the political topics, though we’re all disappointed in certain actions of Joe Biden as President so far, but we talk about why claiming a lack of filter is not a good excuse for being an asshole and why an article about micro-cheating from 2017 is full of shit!

Starbolts #519: To the Other Side

Hail!

This week Angela and Tanis are on their way to Demonsk to find out more about the ceremony that nearly killed our favorite Latina superheroine. What will she uncover in the wasteland ruled by a cruel tyrant? Hopefully, she’ll find the answers she’s been looking for as we return once again to Demonsk! It’s been a long time since we’ve been there! We haven’t been there since Starbolts #200!

Some comic notes to think about. In my head, I’m thinking that they had a portal set up to try and get Shenra back home if she ever needed/wanted to return to Demonsk. That’s why a basic portal was set up. That and to keep tabs on Demonstorm. You always have to be prepared when dealing with him. He may return. One never knows!

Another note to talk about is the Centurions’  inaction during the Aquan Occupation. They were aware of it and didn’t act. Gregorio was a young Centurion during its final years. Would he have made a difference? Oh, yeah. But, the Corps decided he was needed elsewhere. Thankfully, the Aquans do not hold a grudge! And they managed to overthrow the bugs eventually. Perhaps the Corps has the uncanny ability of foresight?

Now than that’s out of the way, I wonder if Kevin is really as okay with this trip to Demonsk as Angela told everyone. Time will tell. Tune in next week as we once again go to the other side!

M*A*S*H Goes to Morocco – The Literary Lair

This week, we return to the zany, wacky world of the M*A*S*H sequels and follow them as they visit Morocco. I just hope they don’t bump into parodies of Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.

Damn Right: Remembering the old USA Cartoon Express

So I was sitting here the other night and it came to mind how much I remember the USA Network and its old Cartoon Express block of cartoons that used to run in the mornings and then in the afternoons every day. You would get blocks of cartoons like The Shirt Tales, The Raccoons, all kids of Hanna Barbera stuff like Grape Ape, Magilla Gorilla, Scooby-Doo, Droopy Dog all kids of cartoons beyond that. They would be running early in the morning and would go until later in the morning around 10 o clock or so. Then the USA Network would air something like the live-action Incredible Hulk show or something like that for an hour. The evening shows would come on at about 4 or 5 at night and give us a little more animation to bring an end to our day. One of my favorites from the days was Laff-A-lympics

from the Hanna Barbera team. Featuring sports teams from The Yogi Yahooeys, The Scooby Doobies, and the Really Rottons all competing in wild events trying to get some points to count against their rivals.

These shows came around before I became a wrestling fan so I was watching the express before I was watching Monday Night Raw or any of those kinds of shows on the USA Network. Back in the days where the  USA Network would air old game shows in the afternoons before the Express would come on. Shows like Tic Tac Dough, Joker’s Wild, Scrabble, and another one of my favorites Bumper Stumpers.

Maybe I’m just dreaming on old USA Network shows before stuff they air nowadays. Stuff that they aired before I even had cable. Back in those days, my grandmother’s house had cable and the USA Network. Maybe my mind was thinking back to a younger day.

Hope to all you all again!

Starbolts #518: A Romantic Interlude

  Hail!

If you’ve guessed that Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” is Crystal and Marcus’s song, then you’d be correct! It’s a good song and when Crystal was little she’d listen to the singer all the time just to spite Ruby and Jeb and the song’s lyrics really suit Crystal to a tee. She was afraid to love before and now she isn’t. She’s got her rock and nothing is going to stop her.

So, it’s been about a year since Starbolts #303 when Crystal and Marcus kissed for the first time and what a year it’s been. That comic came out when I was just thinking about elevating Crystal to main character status and I’m glad I did because there was a lot of story potential with her. Since she was elevated, Firaxil (then Dennis), Sara and Jack have all gotten great character moments.

Crystal has gone through a lot and her character has become a LOT better in my opinion. And that’s good because you want your characters to grow and change. Everyone changes for good or bad. But, in the end everyone needs a rock to keep them steady.

What’s next for the happy couple? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see because next time we go back and see what Angela is up to. See ya next time!
