Killer Klowns from Outer Space

killer-klowns-from-outer-space-movie-poster-1988-1020469216This is what Attack of the Killer Tomatoes would be like. Aliens that look like monster clowns crash their circus tent space ship, shoot sentient popcorn guns, and wrap their victims up in cotton candy-like webs. It is just like old 50s and 60s horror B movies where the teenagers see the danger first and warn the police but they think the “punk kids” are just playing a prank because it sounds too bizarre to be true.

If anything could have made me afraid of clowns as a kid, this would have been the movie. These aliens look like clowns out of a child’s nightmares. Pennywise would at least mess with you first and you had to be lured into his grasp anyway. Of course, every monster has that one way to kill them that remains a secret until the end. It is normally something ridiculous. I will not spoil how, but this one makes sense.

One of the cops at the precinct is pretty psychotic; straight out of a Stephen King novel. I wish he had been killed first. The way the clowns kill people is quite creative, albiet gimmicky. If you are in the mood for a good horror B-movie with a few laughs and some 80s flair (and hair), I would recommend this one. It is a classic although you might think it is dated and downright stupid if you do not like its campy nature. This is a movie you would watch with a significant other if you plan on doing more than watch it (wink wink nudge nudge say no more).

This is a one-time watch, and cheesy, but fun. It is available on Hulu with a subscription. 6/10

Rtgomer Productions and what we could be

Hi. I’m not quite sure how to do this, so I guess I’ll just do it.

I want to apologize about how I have been handling myself as a content creator as a part of this site. The day before I even applied I had a very negative attitude towards my fellow content creators. I don’t honestly know what happened. I got one negative response on my second video and I… just fell apart. It isn’t fair that I was picked up and took away the opportunity for others to get shown despite the fact that they were working harder..

Although I’m guilty of these things, so are others. I don’t think that we should be sitting at these low viewcounts. Part of that is that we aren’t supporting each other. Keep in mind that I’m just as guilty as everyone else. There are times when I COULD have watched one of your videos, but instead I re-watch a Nostalgia Critic video that I’ve seen 1,000 times. It isn’t that anything you make is bad. On the contrary, I enjoy Ranting Thespian or Bloody Chuckles whenever I do listen to them. Yet I rarely listen to them. I think part of the problem with this is that we don’t encourage people to try new things. Since most of us are reviewers, we should know better than to just go with the flow and ignore what could be very talented people just because of small tech issues or things that even the people in the big leagues struggled with. Even if you don’t enjoy the content, we should be trying to give criticism in the same way that we do the media that we review.

I think that we should be trying harder to form a community. Channel Awesome or Normal Boots wouldn’t have been so popular had they not formed a community, made friendships, and did their best to help each other. We need that. The site could thrive if we would work together and help each other.

I know I’m not the one who should be talking, but I’m beginning to realize how important it is for artists to know the right people. Why can’t we be the right people? Sure, we might never make it to the same levels as the people that inspired us. But I feel like we could be better if we would be that one extra comment or one extra view.

A lot of us were broken up when Channel Awesome denied us. But we have a site right in our laps! I think we should start making the most of it and help each other build it.

#thatPOWER: The hidden Gospel

It’s a test of something more exciting. But for now, hear about an epic tale only brought to us by the gods themselves.

Musical Hell: Burlesque

Christina Aguilera and Cher star in a movie that’s mostly an excuse to let Christina Aguilera and Cher sing, and to play a game of “spot the cliche” with Diva.

Starbolts #288: Old Ghosts

Happy Halloween from the Starbolts! Mwahahahaha!

There’s a little bit of backstory for this comic. Cobra is the leader of D.I.S.C.O.R.D., an evil organization bent on world conquest. Before that, he was a member of the team that preceded the Starbolts called Soldier Six. As a member of Soldier Six, he helped to save the world on countless occasions and was good friends with the rest of his team. The team eventually had their final confrontation with D.I.S.C.O.R.D. on a remote island. There, he decided to betray his friends by killing all but one person. Jack, Cobra’s ex-best friend, had no choice but to stop his rampage. Jack was too late and a bomb went off. Jack luckily survived at the cost of his limbs and was put into cryostasis. Later, the baddie known as Demonstorm brought Cobra back to life as a being that’s neither living nor dead. The rest as they say is history.

This story sets up a future storyline.  The comics leading up to this are of course on my site, here: http://starbolts.blogspot.com

It was fun creating this Halloween comic. It’s fun to have established ghosts show up in continuity and mess with a big bad like Cobra. What’s going to happen next? Stay tuned!
